Christmas Song Arrangements: From Basic to Advanced
Whether you know a few Christmas songs and want to evolve them or you’re looking to learn a couple of them from scratch, you are welcome to join! We will focus on building Christmas song arrangements, progressing from the easiest versions to more rich and creative variations. Feel free to bring along the song you want to work on! This workshop is suitable for all levels and ages.

Speel en ontmoet 
Deze workshop is een leuk moment om andere pianoliefhebbers te ontmoeten, ervaringen uit te wisselen en voor elkaar te spelen.We maken er een gezellig moment van met een hapje en drankje.Na het voorspelen is er een moment waarin zowel de docent als de overige leerlingen elkaar tips&tricks kunnen geven. Je kan deelnemen als speler of als luisteraar. Speelduur is maximaal 5 minuten per leerling. Alle niveau’s zijn welkom en alle muziekstijlen. Ook eigen muziek.Niets moet, want alles mag. Klankduiken 
In deze workshop leer je wat klankduiken is: het opgaan in de muziek vanaf de eerste noot. Dit kan een korte improvisatie zijn, soms maar dertig seconden, waarbij je volledig focust op elke toon. Door die tonen met volledige aandacht te spelen, verandert je bewustzijn en ervaar je een diepe verbinding met je muziek.
Je leert hoe je deze ‘flow’ kunt bereiken en vasthouden, en hoe een simpele klankduik kan uitgroeien tot een volledige improvisatie of compositie. Geschikt voor alle niveaus, met extra diepgang voor gevorderden.

Create your own song
We will take a few chord progressions; it can be from famous tunes, that we all know, or just some random chords following up each other and those that are nice to our ears; afterwards we will try to make melodies over those chords; either using words (lyrics) or just trying to sing the melody, before playing anything of the melody on the piano.
This way, we can let our imagination and ear memory help us to make music, make melodies and try to make lyrics with simple words and sentences.

In deze workshop leer je hoe je muziek op een duidelijke en professionele manier kunt noteren. We bespreken de basisregels voor handgeschreven notatie en hoe je overzichtelijk muziek opschrijft. Daarnaast krijg je een introductie in handige softwareprogramma’s om je muziek digitaal vast te leggen. Of je nu je eigen composities wilt vastleggen of bestaande stukken wilt uitschrijven, deze workshop biedt praktische tips en tools voor iedereen, van beginner tot gevorderd!

Melody Makeover: Turn simple tunes into fun and creative ideas
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to take a basic melody and turn it into something new and creative. We’ll explore different ways to change a simple tune—by twisting, flipping, and stretching it—so you can create fresh versions of it. This is a useful skill for both composing music and improvising, and it helps you better understand how music works.

Recognize the most heard classical melodies! (English)
Have you always heard that classical melody but were you never able to identify the name of the piece and the composer? In this lesson we will go through some of the most well-known classical melodies everyone knows (but cannot recognize) and learn who the composer is, when they were written and which bigger composition they are a part of (maybe they are the melody from the second movement of a piano sonata for example, or an aria from an opera). At the end of the lesson, there will be a small quiz-game to test the ear-memory of the melodies we listened to! Open to everyone who is curious and interested in classical music.

In this fun lesson we will learn how to create a beautiful piano accompaniment for your voice. Everyone will bring a piece they would like to learn and we will experiment different comping techniques and create a blend that fits your style and your song. Are you interested in playing piano and singing? Have you practiced this a lot, a couple of times only or have you never done it before but would like to try it out? This lesson is open to all levels of singers-piano players! Come and join!

Van band naar piano
Heb je een liedje gehoord en wil je het op de piano spelen, maar weet je niet hoe? De meeste liedjes zijn gespeeld met een hele band en soms zit er niet eens een pianopartij in. In deze themales passen we het lied aan, zodat jij het op de piano kunt spelen! Met de juiste begeleidingspatronen leer je een passende pianopartij op jouw niveau te maken. Voorkennis over akkoorden is handig, maar zeker geen vereiste. Of je nu een beginner, gevorderde, kind of volwassen bent: wees welkom!

Jazz and Blues Rhythm Essentials: Swing feel, syncopation, triplets etc. (English)
Rhythm is one of the most fundamental elements in jazz and blues and this is what we are going to focus on in this workshop. Understanding the swing feel and the concept of “swinging 8th notes”, exploring various rhythmic patterns, listening to examples and of course trying to put all these into practice will be a few of the things we will work on. All students (and levels) are welcome, whether as active participants or observers.

Piano and Tape: repertoire and improvisation (English)
Expand your sound palette with the help of a pre-recorded sound. Sometimes our creativity gets stuck on the keys and we need an outside push of inspiration to start playing.

Many contemporary pianists use electronics in their live performances and many composers write music for instruments and electronics. The setup can be overwhelming, but let’s start simple: what would your piece sound with a background noise, ambience, or even another song playing? Such tricks can expand our imagination and enrich our sound.

In this workshop we will listen to some samples of existing piano and fixed electronics repertoire, and then experiment with playing piano on top of different tracks. An introduction to sound collages: let’s see where it can lead us!!
If you want to experiment with a specific piece, please let me know which one it is beforehand (if it is your own piece send me a recording). Otherwise, be ready to improvise!

Akkoorden in klassieke muziek
Om de stukken die je speelt beter te begrijpen en sneller te leren spelen is het heel handig om te weten wat je speelt en waarom! Bij deze workshop neem jij het klassieke stuk mee wat je nu aan het spelen bent en samen gaan we kijken naar de akkoorden binnen het stuk. Wat is de logica achter de akkoorden? In welke toonsoort staat het en wat heeft dat te maken met de akkoorden? Kan je een stuk sneller instuderen als je het vooraf gaat analyseren?

Voor deze workshop kan je kiezen voor een actieve (zelf achter de piano zitten tijdens de workshop) of passieve (Orestis speelt fragmenten uit jouw stuk) deelname.

Een maximaal van 3 actieve deelnemers geldt voor de workshop.
